Something Special happened today...

Hey guys.  so let me tell you about my day...something special happened so I thought that I would write about it.  I am working diligently on my new fashion line "MILITARY BRAT".  It's been a little hectic.  My mother and I are wanting to be very hands on with everything and we have been hand picking all of the fabrics and accessories.  I have had the hardest time finding fabrics that will compliment most women's bodies..big or small...curvy or not...I have found that to be easier said than done. Not to mention finding the right accessories for each piece.  I notice bad buttons on a garment a mile away, so I am very picky.  Plus, we know what we want and how we want each piece presented in the line. 
Anyhow, it all began to be a bit much so I had to step back.  Don't misunderstand though...I was not beginnning to doubt myself or anything...I just had to step back and believe in my dreams again. I am not lying guys... all of a sudden I began to feel a little less frustrated and simply started to relax... I let go and let God.  Even though we have major deadlines to meet I was not gonna let that get the best of me.  Then I'll end up rushing to get a finished product that I probably wouldn't have been satisfied with.  Once I relaxed with God he laid it on my heart to go a certain side of town and I would find exactly what I needed... including my lead seamstress, which I was in terrible need of as well! I LISTENED AND OBEYED and I found everything   I needed today, including FAITH.... God is good! Just make one step and he'll make the rest! WE DON'T KNOW HOW BLESSED WE ARE!

The Who's LaTangela Newsome? Youtube Channel

Starting in March I will be featuring weekly episodes on my very own Youtube Channel.  Each week I will give you an inside look on my life as I re-emerge on the scene!  I have began production on my debut solo album and I have been busy with my mom building our production company as well. We are working on my new clothing line "Military Brat" and pitching numerous ideas for film and television to networks. 
Yeah we are truly trying to get it in 2010...and we will with God's help!  My mother and I have always been a team from the very start of my career.  She is the reason I made it in the first place and together we will go beyond places we have ever been.  The best part...You get to watch!  Coming in March.  Stay Linked for sneak peaks!!!!

What I've been up to and where i'm headed...

LaTangela Newsome is best known for her role on Nickelodeon’s hit show “Taina” where she co-costarred as “Maritza”…the arch nemesis to the title character. LaTangela is also featured on the show’s official soundtrack under Nick/ Jive Records. She began her career at the age of fourteen when she and her mother were prompted to make a move to New York City by a talent agent whom had seen LaTangela perform an original comedy piece, written by LaTangela, at a conference in Biloxi Mississippi. The agent was eager to represent her in New York as an actress.
LaTangela began auditioning and immediately making good impressions in New York City. She became apart of the well known acting/ singing/dance repertory company City Kids where many celebrities have trained. The performers were Kids who represented bringing about a positive change through the arts. The company performed all over the city in various venues including The Supper Club in Manhattan with Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, Brian McKnight, Feebie Snow, and Aaron Neville to name a few. LaTangela was also a main writer and actress for PSAs that City Kid’s produced for Nickelodeon. This ultimately began her relationship with the Viacom family.
You can also see LaTangela during the early stages of her career in multiple commercials such as MTV’s “Scream Tour” series, Burger King “Bites and Smiles”, a PSA with David Robinson, cameos on ABC’s “Now and Again”, “New York Undercover”, independent films such as “Clouds Of Magellan”, and music videos like Jodeci’s “Get on Up”, Mariah Carey’s “Fantasy”, and “No Morira” by DLG. She was also featured in print campaigns for Time Warner and AT&T.
She later went on to attend Professional Performing Arts School in New York where she studied vocal, dance and music theory. There she performed at Madison Square Garden with Marvin Hamlisch, Lincoln Center, and the UN. It was during this time that LaTangela also began her recording career. Her credits include work with Keith Andes (LaFace), Young Lord (BadBoy), Debrah Cox, and Kaygee of Naughty By Nature and Divine Mills.
It was upon graduation that LaTangela landed her role on the then pilot, “Taina”. The show was not picked up and production did not begin for about another year. During this time LaTangela attended Hunter College in NYC, as a pre law student.
She has since worked on the pilot for MTV’s Wild-N-Out and is currently writing and producing her solo independently under her own company SilverShadow Productions. The company was started by she and her mother Gwendolyn Newsome, and not only are the two producing music, but they are also writing scripts for film and television as well. They will be launching their new line of clothing “Military Brat” soon also.
